This course is designed for healthcare workers involved in manual handling, from routine tasks to more hazardous ones. It equips participants with the skills and knowledge to perform manual tasks safely and respond to first aid incidents, including emergencies such as cardiac arrest.
Students will learn to recognise and manage hazardous manual tasks, apply safe manual handling techniques, and understand body mechanics to prevent injury. The course also covers how to recognise and treat various first aid incidents, call an ambulance, perform CPR, and use a defibrillator until emergency services arrive. It includes initial intervention for serious conditions before professional medical help arrives, providing a first aid response in a range of settings, including community and workplace environments.
Training aligns with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards, industry codes of practice, and the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.
